10 Pages a Day

June 23, 2025

One of the most challenging facets of living in the west is the accomplishment society we have generated over the last 30 years.

Each milestone is marked by a celebration as if we have permanently arrived and have no more work to do on that specific chapter of our lives.

Kindergarten graduation (didn’t know that was a thing)

5th grade graduation (didn’t know that was a thing)

8th grade graduation (didn’t know that was a thing)

High School Graduation (definitely a milestone)

College Graduation if applicable (another milestone)

If we look back at that short list, it would be fair to say that these were progressive milestones recognizing growth and maturation that were setting you up to utilize your God given talents to contribute to society.

However, something weird happens after we settle into our career, marriage, family…most of us simply stop progressing.

It is as if we think that because we have arrived in these places we no longer have to put in the work and we can just habitually live our lives from 9:00 to 5:00, 40 hours a week, 40 years of our life, retire and die.

I want to disrupt this paradigm.

I want to challenge it and to challenge you.

This framework is bogus and it is a way to become a cog in a wheel.

It is your responsibility…no…it is your obligation to break this mold.

One way this can be done is through cultivating the habit of reading tangible books.

Not Kindle, not your Ipad, not emails and websites.

Tangible, printed on paper, books.

You see, some of the smartest people I know in my life have a habit of reading books.

They are constantly educating themselves on a wide array of topics.

Whatever interests them they pursue, letting their curious nature explore.

Now, some of you will tell me that you cannot focus and you cannot sit still and you do not have time.

All of these are cultivated excuses from the machine that is our present society.

To break that mold, I am going to ask you to start reading 10 pages a day.

That is the minimum effort to put into your mental development.

You can read more, but no less than 10 pages.

Just because you have graduated from a university or gotten a big job doesn’t mean that you can suddenly surrender your obligation to yourself to continue to grow.

It is no different than the paradigm of physical health. The minute you stop the discipline is the minute you start letting disease take over your body.

There are no days off and there is no arrival.

There is a constant daily commitment to bettering yourself in spirit, mind, and body.

One of the best ways to exercise your mind is 10 pages a day.

Start the habit now.

Who knows, a year from now you will have 10 books on your shelf that you have read assuming the avg length of a book is 365 pages.

Knowledge is power…even more so, applied knowledge allows you to gain wisdom to navigate the vast pool of circumstances that life will throw at you.

Educate Yourself Constantly.

Remember…it’s 4:45 AM…and if you are walking with me, wherever you are in the world, know that I am praying for you.

Since I don’t make posts like this on social media … If there’s someone you know that would benefit from reading this, share it with them so they can start working on making their Monday great again.
