Being Strong is Different

Being Strong is Different

One of the greatest habits I have cultivated over my short 40 years on this planet is that of strength training.

There are so many countless lessons I can list off from my time spent in the gym.

From a pre-pubescent boy who wanted to look like Arnold.

To a collegiate athlete pursuing the Olympics.

To a dad who just wants to live a long life and be active with his kids.

Each season has required a different level of commitment as well as a different focus in how I trained.

However, there is one consistency that never changed.

I never took the weights out of the weight room.

The way I was able to achieve the results I desired was because of the weights.

If you have ever attempted to follow a strength cycle or a cut cycle you would absolutely understand what I am saying.

The weights were obstacles and difficulties I had to overcome in order to achieve a desired result.

In life, this is a perfect metaphor for what we face on a daily basis.

Every single one of us faces tremendous obstacles and difficulties in our relationships, our finances, our identity, our businesses…

How you choose to face those obstacles will determine the end product you develop down the road.

For many of you, I dare say for most of you, the curated influencer life has convinced you that you do not have to face the obstacle.

In fact, they have convinced you that if it cannot be bought and delivered in 30 minutes on amazon prime that it is not worth the time or effort.

I see this every day in my practice when patients approach Hope and ask us for a solution to health diseases  they have faced for 10, 20, 30 years and they expect a solution in 1 visit.

This is a terrible shift in paradigm thinking for our western culture.

I dare say, an obstacle removing a paradigm that generates a weak population.

You are seeking a way to remove the weights from the weight room but still get the desired results the weights provide.

You cannot achieve anything in this life without overcoming significant obstacles.

Period.

Not only does it require you facing the obstacle, it requires daily discipline and commitment to the process.

When you are working on your marriage you have to commit day in and day out.

When you are working on your business it requires a pound of flesh for every ounce of success.

When you are striving to be healthy it requires the right habits over time domains.

And here is the major shocker: you cannot quit.

The minute you take the weights out of the weight room is the minute you surrender, stagnate, and become complacent.

It is the minute sloth takes over your life and you will revert back to the weak, broken, and lost soul you worked so hard to leave behind.

While the world is doing everything it can to bombard you with the message that you deserve to be happy in prime time, the truth is to achieve the level of anything worthwhile in your life is going to require you to lift a significant amount of weight every single day.

Don’t take the weights out of the weight room simply because the obstacles are requiring more time and effort than you ever thought possible.

Instead, keep facing the weights and trust the process.

You will then realize that by being strong, you have morphed into exactly who you want to be and you will find more creative ways to ensure the obstacles continue to challenge you.
