Health is not easy

So, I would be lying to you if I didn’t start with letting you know where this thought came from.

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to take Josslyn to a friend’s birthday party.

When we arrived, I was quick to notice that the entire party was going to be mom’s and little boys.

Josslyn could care less and I wasn’t really interested in having coffee talk with these group of moms.

Thus, I pulled up my business Instagram and went to work on cleaning up some of the old posts that really were not relevant to the message of Hope Chiropractic Center.

As I was cleaning them up, I came across a thought I had awhile ago…and thought to myself, “I wrote that?”

About this time, a few of my patients who are having a hard time with their health journey were responding back to me checking in with them and letting me know how things are going.

Karma right?

Well…I want to reuse this thought…

For most of us, who were raised like I was, (under the umbrella of western medicine), we have been trained like a Pavlovian dog to believe that we should always be “symptom free” and if we are “symptom free” we are “healthy”.

Nothing can be further from the truth.

In fact, in some instances, I would hope we have symptoms…take for example food poisoning.

If I ingest bad food, in this case, something that my body would perceive as poison, I would hope my body would expel this substance as quickly as possible…

BUT…what are we trained to do in America?

Run to your local drug store and grab some Pepto because that will STOP all the NORMAL and HEALTHY processes our body has in place to eliminate potentially harmful food.

Sounds great right?

Coat my stomach with plastic and allow the poison to just ferment in there…

Why…because science, right?

Wrong.

There are so many uncontrollable factors that contribute to the expression of what we call health, the biggest of which is “stress”.

Now – I know you are laughing at this point thinking…that doesn’t apply to me?

Yeah – I didn’t think so either until I did an Autonomic Nervous System test and learned that stress can be broken down into 7 primary categories

  1. Financial
  2. Relational
  3. Physical
  4. Emotional
  5. Spiritual
  6. Work
  7. Social

You know what’s funny about these categories – your body perceives all of them the same.

Keeping that in mind, what actually is health then?

Health is a complete state of social, mental and physical well-being…not merely the absence of disease or symptoms.

Health is a journey of self discipline, self mastery, and a ton of hills and valleys.

These hills can be difficult to climb – full of symptoms and pain and suffering.

Most people quit on the hill to health and revert back to the paradigm of taking a pill because it is just easier.

Often times, we find ourselves alone, standing on a mountain, lost.

Wondering to ourselves why did God have this path planned out for me.

Why am I doing this to myself.

Why am I so Alone?

I know…I see it every single day and it is heart breaking.

But guess what, you don’t have to travel it alone.

Because there are people who have trained their entire life to help you.

They are the one’s society and the cultural heard likes to call “alternative” or “snake oil”.

I happen to be one of those providers.

And I happen to believe that the number one obstacle to achieving health is a loss of Hope.

That is why it is my personal vendetta to empower the world to challenge the current status quo of what “health” is understood as in the USA.

It is my job to help guide you in your story, making YOU the hero of your health journey.

It is my passion to accompany your along the hill’s and the valley’s sharing the burden of your toughest challenges and celebrating the lightheartedness of your biggest wins.

It is my commitment to help you become the best version of yourself, without using a life long prescription or invasive surgery.

It is my commitment, to HOPE.
