Pursuing the 1%

August 18, 2025

Have you ever taken a moment to reflect on what it takes to be “healthy”

With 50% of America suffering from 2 or more chronic diseases this can be a rather difficult topic to navigate.

Unfortunately, we are indoctrinated, entrenched and emotionally charged when it comes down to best practices in achieving health.

The powers that be have done a great job in not only confusing us on what it takes to actually be healthy but also ensuring that when we are actually presented with what it takes to be healthy we will radically dismiss it because it is not recommended by the gold standard, medical and pharmaceutical backed, big business industry complex.

This is where that whole emotionally charged thing kicks in.

You see, human physiology is relatively unchanged since the moment of creation so no matter what you may believe and get ramped about with health, the human body does not lie.

This is where the issues arise.

When we start dogmatically defending a scientific theory as a truth even though the evidence is showing a society that is slowly becoming fat, sick, and virtually the walking dead it is definitely time for a course correction and a deep dive down the metaphorical rabbit hole.

I propose, in today’s modern sick culture, that we need a shift in our thinking of how health is actually achieved.

Health is an accumulation of doing the 1% right.

More often than not we are educated and indoctrinated to believe a few white lies.

First, the government and the medical institutions have our best interest in mind pertaining to health.

Second, that our dietary decisions do not matter as long as we maintain a calorie in calorie out approach to our diet.

Third, there is a magic silver bullet being made by some prestigious research institution for every single organ system failure.

Just take a few examples below…

  • America currently has a 40% obesity rate (an epidemic)
  • It is estimated that 60% of Americans are suffering from at least 1 chronic disease. (another epidemic)
  • It is also estimated that 20% of people in America suffer from Type 2 Diabetes.  (another epidemic)

And guess what, these numbers just keep going up. By 2030 they get even worse.

However, if all the measures our powers that be are implementing shouldn’t these be going down?

This thought process is one that has plagued our society for the better part of 70 years and the fruits of this thought process has generated nothing but a more sick society.

Blame the commercialism of the West but it is what it is.

Never would we think to look at our own habitual choices as a root cause of our reduced quality of health. (sarcasm)

This is why I challenge my patients to pursue the 1% daily and not the metaphorical silver bullet that just seems to be on the horizon and in need of another billion dollars to finally figure it out.

The pursuit of the 1% consists of daily habits that allow you to reclaim your health and gradually rebuild a strong foundation for the expression of it over time.

For physiology, It all starts with a nervous system free of obstruction.

Once this is sustained it becomes an accumulation of habits over time…this is the only strategy.

The metaphorical silver bullet that you are hoping for that will magically wipe away all of your health problems does not exist and never will exist.

To me, the true people who obtain health are those who take complete ownership of the 1%.

To assess the 1% list, I use 5 pillars.

  • Spiritual
  • Physical
  • Emotional
  • Knowledge
  • Nutrition

For me, my daily 1% activities look something like this.

  • 1 Hour of silent prayer.
  • ½ my body weight in ounces of water.
  • Reading at least 10 pages of a physical book.
  •  45 minutes of walking outdoors
  • Follow a ketogenic, meat forward, zero carbohydrate diet

Now, are there some small nuances that I add and subtract to this list, absolutely but for the most part, these are my non-negotiable 1% activities that I follow to ensure that I have the opportunity to express optimal health.

So, for you, my question is, what are the 1% activities you are pursuing daily to help you claim your health.

Maybe you need to look at your relationship with food and realize that carbohydrates and sugars are wrecking your metabolic system.

Maybe you need to have a hard look at your relationship with technology and lazy habits and start implementing exercise.

Maybe you need a complete overhaul of your life and the first place to start is at an Upper Cervical office getting your neurological foundation right.

Regardless, it is Monday, and it is 4:45 in the morning. I am knocking off two of my 1% activities by praying and walking for the next hour. What 1% activity are you doing to pursue the optimal expression of health?
