Text Neck aka Technology Neck
Either the product of a brilliant marketing campaign or actually a suffer from this diagnosis, the text neck has taken over the talk of the Southlake Community.
I figured I would weigh in on the subject with the solutions I utilize to combat my addiction to screen time.
Now, as this relates, technology neck is a real thing.
It was previous taught in medical schools throughout the world as “upper crossed syndrome”
Okay – why is that important to me?
You know how over the past couple of weeks, the frequent complaint of Neck Pain as a result of working at a desk all day long has come up quite often…

Dr. Kelly Starrett is a highly recommended Physical Therapist out of San Francisco.
I have been following him since 2010 and his videos have helped thousands of people find solutions to their muscular system ailments.

For stretches to help with your neck…here you go!
Crossover Symmetry is a unique system designed to facilitate functional muscle movement patterns.
The system was originally developed to help pitchers recover from Tommy John surgery.
What the creators found was impressive.
Often times, we aim to target a specific muscle to help improve our posture.
However, they discovered the exact opposite.
Instead of training a specific single muscle, they trained sequential movement patterns to facilitate posture correction.
This is the magic behind the band training of Crossover Symmetry.
For any questions surrounding this system – I recommend you go here.
Now – I know many of you who read this will try to find a workaround solution for the exercises by buying some cheap off-brand bands from Amazon.
However – I plead with you to please respect the business and utilize the system the way it was designed.
The bands are unique to Crossover Symmetry and I have yet to find a replacement band that achieves the same results as the patented system from them.
So would you rather invest about $200 for a one-time fee to fix your posture or continue to explore options that don’t work?
I know what I would do.
The soft tissue is taken care of, what about my bone structure…
I thought you would never ask!
Most people are scared to believe that “text neck” leads to a cervical spine that looks like this!
Well, to be perfectly honest, that is exactly what happens from “technology neck.”
It is also interesting that a technology neck is not something new.
In fact, it used to be referred to as “newspaper neck”
The good news is, upper cervical chiropractic is designed to facilitate a change to the structure of our neck.
In taking a very specific set of x-rays, we are able to assess and locate the exact cause of the problem resulting in your poor posture.
In correcting either the first (atlas) or second (axis) bone of your neck, we see a restoration of normal cervical bone structure and posture.
We like to think of it as a guiding point for the rest of your spine…
A “keystone” if you will.
So, if you are at the demise of technology neck and find yourself suddenly suffering from a stiff neck, headaches, migraines, arm pain and just overall discomfort, give us a call!
Believe me – we help people like you find solutions every single day!
A consult is always complimentary.
