Until You Try, You Won’t Know

August 4th, 2025

I love to bake.

Ever since I was a little kid, one of my favorite things to bake and sample are chocolate chip cookies.

Now, if you have ever baked anything in your life, you know that there is a recipe and there is the recipe.

For those of you who are go getters, you normally get on google, find the recipe with the most 5 star reviews, and give it a shot.

The end product will be pretty standard.

However, as you gain experience in baking, you will begin to slowly perfect your recipe.

You will learn that every oven is different.

You will learn that maybe 3:30 of mixing the butter and sugar is ideal.

You will learn that flat cookies and fluffy cookies both come from the same recipe but temperature matters.

You will learn that when you have a 5 star recipe with comments in front of you, that the comments are where the 1% changes are located to make these cookies rock your world.

Then after years of tried and tested attempts, you will perfect your own method for baking the perfect chocolate chip cookies using the same ingredients everyone else uses: butter, sugar, eggs, flour, baking soda, salt, chocolate chips and an oven.

This analogy, the idea of baking the perfect chocolate chip cookie is no different than the pursuit of optimal health.

You see, optimal health is incredibly simple.

We have a recipe to follow.

The problem that we run into though is that many people have one of two responses when they are given the ingredients to health.

First, you get lost in the weeds of recipes and you keep on searching and searching and searching never even attempting to bake one of the recipes you come up with.

And/Or…you start coming up with excuses…

“I don’t know how to bake”

“I am not a measurement kind of person”

“This takes too much work”

“I don’t have time”

“Insurance doesn’t pay for that?”

You catch my drift.

Cookies require 7 ingredients.

Health also requires 7 ingredients:

  • Body weight in water consumed daily
  • A nervous system functioning free of interference
  • 8-10 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night
  • Functional Movement every day
  • Nutrition in a high protein high fat zero carb zero sugar format
  • Connection to people in physical (meaning not social media) relationships
  • Hope

You see, the problem is we get lost in the woods of the recipe world of how to achieve health or the perfect cookie because we make too many excuses to even get started in formulating the experience.

As a wise man once said, you cannot train a kid to ride a bike at a seminar…and as I adapt that, you cannot gain health by liking a social media influencer biohacker without ever implementing any of the 1% activities that are captured in the 7 ingredients for health.

Maybe you need to cool your bedroom down at night so your body can get into deep sleep.

Maybe you need to wake up 1 hour earlier so you can walk outside for 45 minutes.

Maybe you need to finally clean out your pantry of the toxic crap that you call food.

Maybe, just maybe, you need to have your nervous system checked for interference.

So, here is my challenge to you on this Monday Morning…

Look at those 7 ingredients for health and ask yourself: am I fulfilling each of those requirements to the best of my ability.

If you are not, it is time to get baking and experimenting to see what steps you need to take to get there.

Remember…it’s 4:45AM and I am out on my morning walk. A 1% activity that generates optimal health for me. What 1% activity can you get done today to make your Monday great again?
