One of the most prevalent lies we tell ourselves is that we are doing everything we can to move the needle forward on the quality of life that we think we want.
We believe that by eating a well balanced diet of meat, vegetables and carbohydrates that we are getting adequate nutrition.
We believe that spending a reasonable amount of time on screens daily really isn’t all that bad for us.
We believe that the best exercise is the walk from my car to the couch or desk.
We believe that if we are lukewarm and get everyone to like us, that everything will be okay.
We believe that poison in the form of alcohol is “healthy” for us in small quantities.
We believe that there is a group of scientists who are diligently working on the cure to all diseases in a high tech lab somewhere in the world.
We even believe in these “truths” so much that when data comes out that none of this is true we get emotionally charged and entrenched and can’t even pause long enough to hear and consider the lie we have believed.
And when we wake up and realize that a majority of us in America are depressed, fat, sick, and nearly dead…our world is rocked to the core.
The main reason this sprouted upon us all of a sudden is because for years we have continually and consistently executed on the wrong things.
In fact: consistently doing the wrong things gets you nowhere in life.
You see, it has taken me all 40 years of my life to even begin to understand how this perspective has shaped my world view and also my quality of health.
In order to build the life that you want, you are going to have to radically change your habits and how you execute on them.
One of the biggest struggles I have watched patients navigate in my short 10 years in practice is the lifetime commitment to the habits that will sustain and transform your life.
You see the world is designed to convince you that you can perform a habit for a few days and you will magically be everything you ever wanted and more.
It is time to break this paradigm in your life.
You must pause right this minute and ask yourself: are the habits I am performing on a daily basis helping me move the metaphorical needle forward for what God has called for me in my life?
If the answer is no then the next steps are where the magic happens.
You must start now with listing out the habits that need to change.
Maybe it’s time you actually commit to your nutrition. This may require radical changes so extreme that you will empty your pantry of all temptation.
Maybe it’s time you actually commit to following a work out program from a coach who can help you achieve the physique you desire.
Maybe it’s time you actually commit to prayer as a habit. I am not talking about the random sporadic time throughout the day (that is good). I am talking about a dedicated hour a day.
Maybe it’s time that you uninstall all social media and log off for good. Trust me, you will quickly find out how little your “friends” care about you when you stop posting on social media.
Maybe, just maybe, it’s time to face the truth that all along, your life is a product of poor choices that have not yielded any fruit and that is absolutely okay.
The time to start is now.
The time to commit is now.
Stop lying to yourself about how good your habits are if you are completely depressed with where your life is.
Start owning your choices and you will see your entire life radically transform in the next 90 days.
You are what you repeatedly do, therefore excellence is a habit.
