On Sunday, March 2nd, at the 9:00 Mass, our Priest made the following statement.
“Good Fruit comes from Good Trees,”
If this statement or observation holds true, the question I have is:
What makes a tree good?
Without getting too far into the weeds of philosophical discussion, the most simple answer is the quality of the roots.
Therefore, if we tend to the roots of the tree in a manner that is favorable to growth of that tree species, technically we should get a yield of good fruit.
Seems simple enough if you ask me.
In order to get the fruit we desire, we would take time to study our climate and soil to see which species of fruit tree does best in our area.
Shortly after planting the tree, we would then follow the process we studied of nurturing the roots with the right fertilizer and ample access to water to start our experiment of growing good fruit.
After a season of this process we would find out if we followed the recipe correctly by the quality of the fruit our tree produced.
Seems relatively straightforward…right?
Good.
Let’s take this analogy further and apply it to our health.
Good health comes from a good nervous system.
The quality of your health (fruit) is dependent upon how you choose to nurture your nervous system (roots).
The nervous system (root) is the master system of the human body and is responsible for coordinating every single function in your body.
Not just some functions. All of them. 100% of the time. From conception to natural death. Period. This process is called adaptation – you learned it in elementary biology as homeostasis.
So in the big picture when we suddenly develop a random illness, why is it that we don’t immediately look to the roots?
Instead we blame the fruit for being bad, we spray the fruit, we inject the fruit, we give the fruit pills, we cut the fruit off the tree and throw it away…
Part of this is how we are conditioned to think in western society and part of this is the cold hard accountability we choose not to face with our habitual decisions that are rotting our roots and causing our metaphorical tree to bear terrible fruit.
To counter this indoctrination and steady decline of health we are witnessing in the United States, I propose an alternative question: what makes your health good?
A well supported nervous system (the roots).
Our nervous system is nurtured with:
- orienting our lives towards God with purpose and meaning
- proper sleep
- quality toxin free and dye free food and water
- meaningful and connected human relationships
- adequate sunshine
- dynamic movement
- no vertebral subluxation.
If you want the expression of optimal health, you have to diligently nurture your nervous system and ensure that it has the opportunity to go through healing, regeneration, and repair through all seasons of your life.
Remember, Good Fruit comes from Good Trees.
Good Health comes from a Good Nervous System.
This principle is tested and proven through time.
How you choose to nurture your roots will determine the quality of health you express day in and day out.
Remember…it’s 4:45 AM…one of the many ways I nurture the roots of my nervous system to ensure I have continual expression of health…and if you are walking with me, wherever you are in the world, know that I am praying for you as you figure out how to nurture your roots.
Since I don’t make posts like this on social media … if there’s someone you know that would benefit from reading this, share it with them so they can start working on making their Monday great again.
